To ensure there is enough time to receive and return an absentee ballot, it is best not to request an absentee ballot after Monday, October 19th, and instead make a plan to vote early in person as laid out above.

MONDAY, OCTOBER 19TH

If you’re still not registered between the 19th and Election Day and want to vote on Tuesday, November 3rd, you must register in person at your city or township clerk’s office by 8 p.m. After registering, you can vote an absent voter ballot at the city or township clerk’s office.

You must show proof of where you live when using this option. Documents must have your name and current address. You can show a digital copy of documents. Acceptable documents include:

Michigan driver’s license, state ID, or tribal ID.
Current utility bill
Bank statement
Paycheck or government check
Other government document, college or university records
